Agricultural Education

The Agricultural Education Committee undertakes activities intended to enhance the quality of education of students in grades K-12 while increasing an appreciation for our agricultural industry. Activities are organized to expose teachers to aspects of agriculture so that they can incorporate positive examples into their regular classroom lessons. The educational effort of the committee are for the immediate benefit of teachers.

Programs & Events

Resource Library - Provides local teachers with access to a wide variety of agricultural related lesson plans, materials, and projects.

Ag In The Classroom Teacher Seminar - An annual two day seminar for teachers to become familiar with available agricultural curriculum and to experience agriculture through presentations and a tour of local agricultural establishments.

"Ewe-Neek" Teacher Workshop at the Mid-State Fair - A "hands-on" workshop for teachers at the Fair. Provides teachers with a first-hand look at agricultural activities at the Fair and background information about the various associated agricultural organizations.

Create-A-Cow and Design-A-Vine Contests - Exciting contests sponsored for grades K-6 to teach students about beef cows and grape production. Each participating class is provided with applicable lesson plans and materials in which to construct their very own cow or grapevine to be showcased at the Mid-State Fair.

Except for the coordinator, committee members serve on a voluntary basis.
