Gina Miles shares photos of her riding career |
Gina explained that eventing is not breed specific and she grew up competing on horses including an Arab and Appaloosa. She also noted that in the Olympics the Equestrian event is one where men and women compete equally.
The amazing horse she rode to Olympic glory is McKinlaigh from Ireland who will turn 16 years old this year. McKinlaigh stands at 17.3 hands tall. The pair trained for 30 days in England before heading to China.
McKinlaigh could not compete in the Athens Olympics due to breathing problems caused by a pulminary bleed. After a complete recovery McKinlaigh went on to win Silver at the Bejing Olympics. |
